5 Pillars of Health: Movement

Everyone knows exercise and movement is important. There are so many benefits to it, so it’d be dumb not to it! It is essential to live a healthy, happy life.

Exercise can take on different forms including cardiovascular (running, cycling), strength (weights, calisthenics), mobility (yoga, stretching) and NEAT. A mixture of all of them would be perfect, but obviously sometimes there’s not enough time and energy to do it all.

Any exercise is better than non, so make sure you have time to fit in at least 45mins 3-5/week.

NEAT= Non-exercise activity thermogenesis, which is the energy expended for everything we do that is not sleeping, eating or sports-like exercise. It ranges from the energy expended walking to work, typing, house cleaning, gardening and fidgeting.

So improving on your NEAT is also super important. So if your lifestyle requires you to be sedentary starting implementing habits of moving more, taking more breaks, walking to work or the train station, taking the stairs etc.
